Ingredients

  • 1 bag of black tea or infusion of choice
  • 1/4 cup apple puree homemade or store-bought
  • 2 orange slices
  • 1 small apple or half a large one
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 star anise if you enjoy the taste of it
  • 4 cm of ginger slices or grated ginger
  • 4 cups of hot water
  • Optional: 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  • Bring the water to a boil and add all of the ingredients into one pot.
  • Put the pot to heat on a low to medium heat for 15 to 30 minutes, minimum.
  • If you prefer, before putting it on the heat, you can let it rest for a few minutes and remove the teabag so it doesn't get too strong.
  • Remove from heat, lightly crush the apple and orange with a spoon and pour into mugs, straining with a fine mesh strainer.
  • If you want to, sweeten it with some sweetener, brown sugar or honey to taste!
  • Decorate with anise stars, orange slices, cinnamon sticks or pomegranate seeds and enjoy while still warm!

Notes

You can omit the star anise if you're not sure you like it, as it tends to dominate the other flavours a lot.
If you prefer, before putting the pot on the heat, you can let it rest for a few minutes and remove the teabag so it doesn't get too strong.
