Ingredientes de que vão precisar

Apple puree – that you can make at home (here’s the recipe for my delicious Homemade Spiced Apple Butter) or use store-bought. If you buy it at the grocery store look for a sugar-free version, made with basically only apples and spices!

Spices – all the warm autumnal ones: cinnamon, ginger and star anise.

Apple and orange – to add even more flavor to the cider.

Tea or herbal infusion – I used black tea but be careful if you’re making this cider in the evening. Tea has a similar component to caffeine, called theine, which also acts as a stimulant. So if you’re going for a night drink, choose a herbal infusion instead, such as lemon balm, or simply omit it, as the cider alone already has enough flavour.

Quicker Hot Apple Cider Tea

This Quicker Hot Apple Cider Tea filled with the warm flavours of autumn spices is the ideal drink for the autumn nights, with friends around the table and board games.
Porções 4 mugs
Tempo de Preparação 5 mins
Tempo de Confeção 15 mins
Tempo total 20 mins

Ingredientes

  • 1 bag of black tea or infusion of choice
  • 1/4 chávena apple puree homemade or store-bought
  • 2 orange slices
  • 1 small apple or half a large one
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 star anise if you enjoy the taste of it
  • 4 cm of ginger slices or grated ginger
  • 4 chávenas of hot water
  • Optional: 1 tbsp sugar

Instruções

  • Bring the water to a boil and add all of the ingredients into one pot.
  • Put the pot to heat on a low to medium heat for 15 to 30 minutes, minimum.
  • If you prefer, before putting it on the heat, you can let it rest for a few minutes and remove the teabag so it doesn’t get too strong.
  • Remove from heat, lightly crush the apple and orange with a spoon and pour into mugs, straining with a fine mesh strainer.
  • If you want to, sweeten it with some sweetener, brown sugar or honey to taste!
  • Decorate with anise stars, orange slices, cinnamon sticks or pomegranate seeds and enjoy while still warm!

Notas

You can omit the star anise if you’re not sure you like it, as it tends to dominate the other flavours a lot.
If you prefer, before putting the pot on the heat, you can let it rest for a few minutes and remove the teabag so it doesn’t get too strong.
